LOCAL LIB DEMS LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO IMPROVE NHS DENTISTRY IN WEST BARNES

In April 2006, Sofia House Dental Practice on Seaforth Avenue, Wimbledon, stopped treating NHS patients. This is because of new NHS dentist contracts from the Labour Government. The Seaforth Avenue practice is not the only dental surgery in the Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust that has stopped treating NHS patients.

Local Liberal Democrats are campaigning for better dental services for our area.

West Barnes resident Mary-Jane Jeanes said:

"Everyone should have the option of  a local NHS dentist. It's disappointing that one of the few remaining local dentists has stopped treating NHS patients. After years of neglect, fewer than a third of adults in the area are now registered with an NHS dentist."

West Barnes Lib Dems have launched a petition calling on the Health Minister to improve dental facilities in West Barnes.
