Network Rail has said it may cut the direct link between south London, the City and central London, commonly known as the ‘Wimbledon loop’, after the Thameslink upgrade is completed in 2016.

As a result of the change, trains would terminate at Blackfriars, leaving thousands of commuters without a direct link to several London stations and other busy train stations throughout the south east (the Thameslink programme’s FAQs can be seen here).

Show your support for this campaign and help save train services to central London.

There are nine stations in Merton that would be affected by this proposal: St Helier, Morden South, South Merton, Wimbledon Chase, Wimbledon, Haydons Road, Tooting, Mitcham Junction and Mitcham Eastfields.

We the undersigned oppose Network Rail's plans to cut direct services on the Thameslink'Wimbledon Loop' via stations in Merton.

We call on Network Rail to retain direct trains from Merton to the City, to King's Cross and the Eurostar Terminal and to Luton airport
