As a nation, we spend a vast amount of money at Tesco, the country's largest supermarket.  Their market position gives them the power to support and educate consumers, but also to hamper and mislead us.
All large corporations, have a role to play in helping us live more sustainably, and we believe that Tesco could do a lot more.
Some small changes from Tesco could make a big difference.
As they say: "Every little helps".  Let's make sure that those little things do indeed help us, rather than hurting our pockets and our planet.

Let's get Tesco to ensure that when they say 'value' we get 'real value'.

We, the undersigned, demand that Tesco stop misleading it's customers by selling items in their 'value' range that are actually more expensive to use, and more damaging to the environment.

  • 'value' light bulbs are currently the old fashioned ones that are cheap to buy, but cost far more to run. The 'value' label should only be applied to energy saving light-bulbs (compact fluorescent and LED).
  • 'value' batteries are currently zinc-carbon batteries. The 'value' label should only be applied to re-chargeable batteries that work out cheaper because they can be re-used many hundreds of times.
