Chris Nicholson is campaigning with Streatham Lib Dems to save Streatham's Post Office.
The Government is planning to close Streatham Post Office and move a counter service to the upstairs floor of WH Smiths on the High Road.

Local Lib Dem Parliamentary spokesperson Chris Nicholson said, "It beggars belief that there are now plans to cram a few Post Office counters into the already busy WH Smith store and sell off the existing Post Office site.

"Residents are rightly concerned that this will lead to poorer service for Post Office users with even longer queues. By contrast, the Liberal Democrats have well developed and carefully costed plans to invest in our local Post Offices, not asset strip them and close them down as the Labour government wants to do."

  • We oppose the plans to close Streatham Post Office and move counter services inside WH Smith.
  • We do not believe that as high a quality of service can be offered at WH Smith as from the existing Post Office branch.
  • We oppose further cuts to Sub-Post Offices in the Streatham area.
