St Anne's school building was constructed in 1834 as Southover Rectory, making it a Hanoverian building. It's now threatened with demolition. The most unusual architectural features are the decorated chimney pots, found only here, on the Catholic presbytery in Ireland's lane, and on Antioch Lodge at the top of Rotten Row.

The Tory led East Sussex County Council are planning to demolish St. Anne's School building, formerly St. Anne's Rectory. It sits in extensive, and beautiful gardens which have been unused since the school closed.

We, the undersigned, deplore the neglect of St. Anne's school site. We call for the County Council to consult residents on the best way to use the site and the buildings on the site while they remains in County Council hands, and on the long term future of the site and buildings. We also demand that no demolition works take place except as a result of such consultation.

Lewes Liberal Democrats are working hard to protect this site. It is scheduled for an extension to the conservation area, we're investigating listing the building, and we're asking the Souch Downs National Park Authority to block the demolition of the historic school building.
