There are plans to close Richmond's main Post Office in July 2007 and to open an alternative in the nearby branch of W H Smith.
Our petition raises our concerns that this will not be to the public advantage and requests that the existing Post Office should be kept open.
We, the undersigned, call on Post Office Ltd to reverse the decision to close the free-standing Crown Post Office in Richmond which provides crucial services to local people. No assurances have been given that the replacement office to be opened in W.H. Smith & Sons would a) provide at least as many manned counters as at present available to customers; b) match the current open hours; c) make available the full range of post office services and d) be staffed by experienced Post Office employees with the knowledge to provide quality services.
