SAVE LOCAL POLICING PUBLIC MEETING

18th February 2008 at 7pm

Talacre Community Sports Centre, Prince of Wales Road, NW5

Holborn & St Pancras Liberal Democrats are campaigning to keep policing local.  We want police patrols in our area to be organised and delivered locally.  We don't agree with a centralised police building to serve the whole of Camden with police patrols.  We believe our community needs police officers who are based within the community, who have good links with local people and who have a good knowledge of the areas they serve.

We call on the Met to keep local policing local. We recognise the need for investment in our police stations and modernisation of the way police work as set out in their recently published Asset Management Plan consultation paper. But we strongly oppose plans to centralise policing in a single patrol base for the whole of Camden. We call for local patrol bases, local counter services and police who know their patch.
