Half a million visitors a year use Crowtree Leisure Centre yet our Labour controlled council wants to axe it.
Most residents in Sunderland were dismayed when the council announced plans to close Crowtree and even more so when Cllr Paul Dixon the local councillor whose ward Crowtree is in revealed 500,000 people a year use Crowtree.
The council is trying to achieve a vibrant City Centre with an economy to match for both residents and visitors alike yet closing Crowtree will mean 500,000 less people a year coming into the City Centre. At a time when we are constantly told to lead a more healthy lifestyle and get more exercise, closing Crowtree beggars belief.
When Crowtree closes, there will be no leisure facilities in the City Centre for Young, Old and Families alike. Let's show Sunderland Council the true public feelings on their plans to close Crowtree, we need as many people to sign the petition.
500,000 People Can't Be Wrong.
We the undersigned petition Sunderland City Council to keep Crowtree Leisure Centre open.
This excellent well used, easily accessible centre in the heart of the City attracts nearly 500,000 visitors a year.
