Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Council's Conservative cabinet councillor for schools, Chris Watt recently launched a consultation on plans to shut Broadlands. One of the reasons cited is that too much too much of his councils money is being spent on ‘schooling children from outside of the (Bath and North East Somerset) area’.
Lib Dems believe it is senseless to close successful and popular schools, and that this will only reduce choice for Bristol parents. We are leading the opposition to these plans and we are determined that parents of Bristol Children at Broadlands have their say.
Lib Dem Cllr Tim Kent says “ I know how important Broadlands School is to parents in this area and we are determined to make conservative councillors listen on this issue”
Cllr Jos Clark added: “As a former Broadlands pupil I am saddened and outraged the conservative councillors are trying to force closure of such a successful school, with no thought for local children.”
If you want to be involved in the campaign to save Broadlands, please sign the below petition and help send a strong message against these plans.
