The Post Office hs annouced plans to close Mannofield Post Office as part of the Government and Post Office scheme to close around 2,500 post offices around the country.

Local Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Yuill and Aberdeen South's MSP Nicol Stephen are campaigning with local residents to oppose this closure.

The deadline for local people to tell the Post Office what we think of its plans is 8th July 2008. Here's how you can help:

1. Sign the petition below against closing Mannofield Post Office and send the Post Office a strong message that closing our local post office is unnecessary and unacceptable

2. E-Mail the Post Office's National Consultation Team at consultation@postoffice.co.uk explaining how much you use Mannofield Post Office and how difficult it will be for you to get to another branch

3. Write to the Sally Buchanan, Network Development Manager, c/o National Consultation Team, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM (no stamp is required) explaining why you want Mannofield Post Office to stay open

4. Send a letter to the local papers
Tell them about how damaging this closure will be for our local community. You can e-mail the letters page of the Press & Journal at  pj.editor@ajl.co.uk and the letters page of the Evening Express at ee.letters@ajl.co.uk

We believe Mannofield Post Office is a well used and highly valued local service and call on the Post Office to drop plans for its closure.
