Dear Mr Hutton

I am writing to urge you to hand over management of the Haslar Hospital site to Gosport Borough Council AS SOON AS the hospital closes as a military hospital in July.

Gosport Borough Council has the support of local businesses to take on the site after the hospital’s closure and redevelop it in order to retain a 250-bed treatment centre, a medical centre with clinics, and facilities for medical research and training.

I am concerned that any delay in handing over the site will mean a deterioration of the hospital’s equipment and facilities, making it impossible to keep beds and health services open.

I therefore urge you in the strongest possible terms to ensure a speedy handover.
