In 2005, the ruling Tory controlled City Council informed the South Werrington and North Gunthorpe FOCUS team, that a 'Speed Management Strategy' along Gunthorpe Road would be implemented within the following financial year. Guess what? It wasn't!
For years, local residents, schools, parents and businesses have been forced to endure endless increases in traffic and road safety concerns.
The FOCUS Team made a promise to keep fighting until something is done by the City Council to make sure that the concerns of local people are listened to and acted upon, to help reduce the dangers relating to traffic on the Gunthorpe Road! "Given the proposed development of some 1200 homes nearby, shoppers trying to access the Werrington Centre, the fact that there are already two schools, one pub, shops, several roads leading off it and the fact that Gunthorpe Road is supposed to a “residential road”, when are the Council going to act to resolve the problems incurred by us residents?" - Coniston Road Resident
The Police have now undertaken a survey of the road, and have shown proof of speeding along the road (see page 1 and page 2 of their findings) . Now is your chance to help the team by adding your weight to the petition!
