Like me, I am sure you will agree that few things will have a greater effect on a person's later life than the school they go to. That is why it is so important that we provide good schools for all and that children get the opportunity to go to a school of their choice.
However, schools in Hornsey & Wood Green actually receive less money than neighbouring boroughs, even though the education challenge here is the same if not greater than else where. This is because local schools are classed as 'Inner' London when it comes to costs like teachers' wages, but 'Outer' London when it comes to funding.
This means they receive on average £736 less per pupil. Inner London boroughs like Hackney, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster get £6,216 where the government think a child in our borough is only worth £5,480!
This is simply not fair. I hope you will support my campaign and encourage others to do the same.
