COLEFORD TIP DECISION EXPECTED SOON
In February campaigners went to the Somerset Waste Board and witnessed a real shambles. In essence a final decision was deferred to March 25th. A call-in by 3 District Councils led to an 'informal' meeting of District and County Councillors.
Gloria Cawood said,"A public decision should be scrutinised in public. It is a disgrace that the public and Press were excluded. Councillors were very angry about this abuse of democracy."
The Somerset Waste Partnership is being recommended essentially to do one of two things:
EITHER
A: To close or mothball Coleford and three other recycling centres
OR
B: Charge £2.50 per visit to these four sites for four months and if the sites prove financially unviable, close them.
