Allnutts Post Office closed on 8 February 2008 despite a big campaign to save it.  Since then the equipment has been regularly maintained by the Post Office.

Last year Essex County Council announced that it would re-open post offices. Campaigning Liberal Democrat councillor Janet Whitehouse pressed for Allnutts to be included and had conversations with county council officials. For many months the outlook for Allnutts seemed encouraging.

However, the county council has now told Shanhaz at Allnutts Stores that the post office will not now re-open. This is on grounds of cost and too few customers.

Do you want the post office to re-open? Would you use it? If the answer is Yes, please sign our petition as soon as possible.

We must show the county council that we need our post office back!

To Lord Hanningfield, Leader of Essex County Council:

I/we are very disappointed that Allnutts Post Office will not re-open. It provided a very important service to the local community and there is no convenient alternative.

We need our post office back!
