Post Office Ltd Post Office Ltd has announced a new list of local post office under threat of closure. This is part of a national programme which will see 2,500 post offices across the country earmarked for closure. Already 10 post offices have closed across the Watford constituency since 2003. Now more are threatened.

Consultation on proposals for Watford and Three Rivers will close by 25 July.
The following Post Offices are under threat:
Bradshaws at Bushey Mill Lane;
Leavesden Road Post Office;
Queens Road Post Office;
Little Oxhey Lane (already temporarily closed).

LibDem parliamentary candidate Sal Brinton said, "Post offices are a vital part of the local community. When the local post office closes other services often follow suit, which can be devastating for the community. It is important that we fight now against post office closures. Please sign our petition and help our fight".

We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed closure of further Post Offices in the Watford area and regret the past post office closures, which have affected the local community. We also note with concern the government's plans to close 2,500 post office branches across the UK.
We support the LibDems in calling on the government to:

  1. End the branch closure programme;
  2. Remove the Royal Mail Counter Service's restrictions on the Post Office to open up further business opportunities for the network;
  3.  Stop removing Government business from post offices;
  4. Invest in the post office network.
