The Conservative City Council is preparing to sell the public car park in WESTRIDGE ROAD. Plans are under discussion with a discount chain to build ANOTHER supermarket! These plans indicate that Portswood shoppers would have to compete with supermarket customers for space in the same car park.

We believe that Portswood does NOT need a sixth supermarket, resulting in fewer parking spaces and even more traffic congestion.  We are also very concerned about the possible effects on the existing shops in Portswood Broadway.  The Council Cabinet is due to discuss the plans in public for the first time at a meeting in March (check website
www.southampton.gov.uk for details). If you object then please sign the petition below.

I/We the undersigned protest against the plans to sell the Westridge Road Car Park and to build another supermarket in Portswood.
