Cllr Fran Wilson and local health campaigner Peter Carroll outside Maidstone Hospital

Local campaigner Peter Carroll is campaigning to save local health services at Maidstone Hospital.

Some services have already been moved to other hospitals and there is great concern that more and more will be moved away.

Peter Carroll said, "Maidstone Hospital needs to have a full range of services for local people. Travelling to other hospitals such as Pembury and Tunbridge Wells will be very difficult for patients and visitors alike. Some health professionals have gone on record stating that they fear that lives will be put at risk as services are moved away. We must stand up to the Labour Government who are trying to take control of local services away from local people”.

Cllr Fran Wilson said, ‘I am concerned that more and more services will be moved from Maidstone to help get patients into the new Pembury Hospital. We are asking local people to sign our petition. We want to show ministers in London how much community support our local hospital has. We want to put pressure on them to keep core health services where they belong – in our local hospital.

I/We call on the Government to protect existing health services at Maidstone Hospital and to guarantee the long term future of our local hospital.
