Keep it Stokey!

The proposal for a new Sainsbury's store in Wilmer Place - at the junction of Church Street and High Street - is not needed, not wanted and bad for Stoke Newington.

Building another supermarket in N16 would mean more traffic in an area that already gets badly congested and would detract from Stoke Newington's unique atmosphere of independent and alternative shops.
We don't want another Clone Town!

Building a new supermarket would also mean demolishing a number of Victorian buildings and potential damage to Abney Park Cemetery.

I oppose the plans to construct a supermarket in Wilmer Place and the extra traffic, environmental damage and demolition of historic buildings it will cause.

Stoke Newington is a neighbourhood with a unique and special character and it should be protected.

Stoke Newington is already under pressure from the council, who have neglected Clissold Park zoo and are forcing local small businesses out of bidding for contracts.
