Since the upgrade and extension of the London Overground, Hackney is now much better connected - but many journeys cost more than they should because Transport for London chose to classify one station on the line as a central London station.

Shoreditch High Street station replaced the zone 2 Shoreditch station - but TfL have placed it in zone 1.

This means a commuter using Oyster prepay pays £1.10 extra on each peak-time journey - and a whopping £44 a month* extra for an average commuter.

I support the campaign to move Shoreditch High Street station back into Zone 2, saving local residents up to £44 a month on their commuting costs.

The East London Overground line serves some of the poorest areas of London including Dalston and Haggerston. Hackney Lib Dems think it is unacceptable to charge low-waged commuters so much extra to get to work. £44 a month is a lot of money to many people in East London.
