We, the undersigned, support Gail Coleshill and Louise Bray's campaign in calling on Bath and North East Somerset Council to reduce the speed limit along the main road through Camerton. In particular, outside Camerton Primary School where many local children walk to and from every day.
Every week an average of 57 people are killed on Britain's roads. 350 people a year are so seriously injured that their lives are irreparably altered.
Of these tragedies, 30% involve pedestrians and cyclists.
At 30mph, 48% of pedestrians in collision with a vehicle will be killed.
At 20mph, only 5% would be killed.
Camerton, along with many other villages in North East Somerset, needs to have a 20mph speed limit.
A 20mph limit would make our village much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and especially children walking to the local school.
